BONDOLFI SECONDARY SCHOOL BRIEF HISTORY

Bondolfi Secondary School is a Catholic and mixed school located 33 km South of Masvingo city along old Beit Bridge. From the road junction the school is 500 m to the East. It was founded in April 2015 under the leadership of retired lecture acting as T I C, Mr Mapuranga and constructed by Holy Cross Sisters. The school has a population 345 learners from all over Zimbabwe. MOTTO :Fides , Labora et, Saptentia

AVHUNGA SECONDARY SCHOOL BRIEF HISTORY

Avhunga is a Catholic Secondary school located 127 km from Masvingo along the Beitbridge road. From the junction, the school is 100m to the East. It was established in the year 2003. People gathered to deliberate on the establishment of a secondary school under a Mukamba tree and agreed that the school be established at a farm house. The community leadership then approached the District Education Officer and the school was granted by the Ministry of Education. The name Avhunga was adopted which is a name of a nearby mountain. The school was opened as a council school and was handed over to the Roman Catholic-Masvingo Diocese in December 2007. On its opening the school was established at the farm house and teachers were housed there. Avhunga Secondary has a current student population of 227 learners, 129 girls and 98 boys coming from Mwenezi District of Masvingo province in Zimbabwe.

BEREJENA PRIMARY BRIEF HISTORY

Berejena Primary is a Catholic school located inChivi District. It is 60km from Chivi District Administration Offices in the south part of the district. The school was established in 1955 near Berejena business centre. It had Sub A to Standard six classes. Mr Moyo was the senior teacher whilst Fr Micling was the Priest In Charge. In the third term of 1957 the school relocated to its present location where a new dam had been constructed. Mr Makonese became the head under Fr Gullick and Fr Tchlick. In 1962 Sr Theresa became head taking over from Mr Makonese. In 1963 Fr Zullig became head for both the primary and secondary schools.

From 1966 to 1975 Mr Paradza was head of the school whilst Rev Fr Chiginya T was Priest In Charge.From 1976 to 1981 Mr Mpofu became the head who made outstanding achievements in both academic a sporting disciplines. In 1981 to1991 the boarding facility closed due to recurring droughts which incapacitated the water sources. From 1991 to 2000 Mr Chamboko became the head under Fr Makonese as Priest In Charge. From 2000 to2006 Mr Mavheneka took over as head. From 2006 to 2013 Mrs Chauraya was heading the school under Fr Mukaro as Pruest In Charge. From 2914 to2015 Mr Shumba became the Acting Head.From 2016 to date the school is being headed by Mr Gwezuva under Fr James Munyanyi as Priest In Charge.


CHATAGWI PRIMARY

CHATAGWI PRIMARY BRIEF HISTORY

Chatagwi is a Catholic primary school. It is located in ward 13 Muzhanjire ranch under chief Neshuro. It was opened in 2002 to cater for resettled families. The Catholic Diocese of Masvingo took over from MRDC after parents through the SDC requested for assistance. The diocese under Sekuru Bhasera advised council that they were interested in taking over the school. The council agreed. The acting Head Mr Tshabalala T had resigned due to economic challenges. Mr Gwenzi Jeremiah was appointed acting Head. The infrastructure was collapsing. Teachers and learners were transferring termly. Fr Dzeka was appointed priest in charge. Currently Fr Zengeya is currently priest in charge of the school. The school managed to build: 1huts for teachers 2. 2classroom blocks, Toilets, semi detached trs' house is under construction. It has 7 staff members and 321 learners

BONDOLFI TEACHERS COLLEGE BRIEF HISTORY

Bondolfi Teachers’ College is a Catholic Institution offering ECD and General Teacher Education at Diploma level. It is in the Diocese of Masvingo 30km to the South of Masvingo city. The Teacher Education programmes started in 1963. Bondolfi Mission where the college exists was established in 1951 and named after Father Bondolfi, founder of Bethlehem Missionary Society (SMB) congregation. In January 1982 Bondolfi Teachers’ College became an associate college of The University of Zimbabwe. College started at Gokomere in 1963 and relocated to the present Bondolfi Mission to create an environment for mature and professional teacher trainees. It offered PTH starting with 60 male students for RJC graduates. In 1968 we had our first T3 three year group. In 1979 College closed because of the liberation war and housed at the United College of Education in Bulawayo.

In 1980 the four year programme of training (1stand 3rdYear in college and 2nd and 4thYear on T.P.) was introduced. 2005 saw the introduction E.CD and the beginning of the 2-5-2 general programme. Currently we have the 3-3-3 programme of training reintroduced in 2019.In 2007 thee post of Rector was introduced with the first incumbent being The Very Reverend Fr. W. Don Bosco Primary School is situated in Masvingo's Mucheke Suburb along Charumbira Street. It is opposite Chikato Police Station and is built near the biggest bus rank in Masvingo Urban.Don Bosco Primary is 4km from the city centre going east wards.It is in ward 1 Masvingo Urban.

Don Bosco Primary School was opened in January 1944 with an enrolment of 58 learners.The buildings were designed by Fr Grober and built by Fr Baur,Fr Michlig,Fr Rutishauser under the management of Fr Winterhalder.It started with 2 teachers Mr S.Nhariwa and Mr I. C.Chishambwa.
