FIVE YEAR REPORT OF THE EVANGELIZATION COMMISSION

This is a brief report on the state and activity of the Evangelization Commission of Masvingo Diocese for the past five years. The Commission members met once or twice informally but did not come up with a programme of action. The commission members were looking forward to be guided by the administration on the modus operandi of the commission. However, the commission looked with a keen interest on the work of evangelization within the diocese. The commission is happy to report on a few observations which they made and regard as positive and successes.

POINTS NOTED

  1. After many years of failed attempts to come up with a common syllabus to teach catechism in our parishes, the commission is happy to report that such a syllabus is now in existence and we are grateful to the strenuous effort of the team that came up with such a syllabus.
  2. The commission notes with pleasure the establishment of the Couples’ Association at many parishes of the diocese.
  3. iii. The commission notes with gratitude the work which has been done by the Lent and Sacrifice Campaign, especially for coming up with a booklet of a record of the collections and distribution of the collections received from parishes.
  4. The commission notes with pleasure the successes of Youth Ministry in the diocese and is grateful that some members of our diocese were able to attend the World Youth Day in Panama.
  5. The commission notes with pleasure the formation of the Catholic Women’s Organization in the diocese.
  6. Further the church’s mission of evangelization through the media framework.
  7. Create a platform for sharing information, faith, ideas and beliefs.

CONCLUSION

With the above achievements, it is the intention of the commission to see all people in the diocese living the vision or the mission statement of the diocese of being “The family of God united in love: seeking, following and proclaiming Jesus Christ.”

Thank you.
